There is a change in the world of work post pandemic, and a call for a new breed of leadership. The kind of leadership that embodies feminine energy.

Womxn have stepped up to lead culture at work, added to their already full plates, and are now even more prone to burnout. At the same time, we still only represent 24% of the C-Suite (4% for womxn of colour) and for every 100 men that get promoted, only 86 womxn do.

Whilst radical change is needed from across the working world, my goal is to empower womxn to step up to the leadership table sooner, and truly bloom in their career without the weight of imposter syndrome and the burden of burnout.

Time to step up and bloom

We need to become the leader we are seeking in others. We aren’t doing enough to advance ourselves and one another. We work hard and hope to be discovered and promoted. We watch others bloom around us and, whilst inspired, fail to embrace that it is something that we all have the power to do.

As leaders we are more likely to:
Be interrupted or spoken over
Having our judgment questioned in our area of expertise
Having others comment on our emotional state

Instead, my goal is for us to:
Develop the power of firm but fair boundaries, for ourselves and others.
Harness the power of influence, so that our judgment is no longer questioned.
Actively seek to educate others on the emotional spectrum so that they might learn from us.

ABOUT YOUR TEACHER

My name is Ruth Penfold-Brown.
I’ve always had a maverick spirit within me, but I still spent many years under the command of others, working hard and waiting to be given opportunities to grow. In the end I realised that I needed to become the leader I was seeking in others; to claim ownership of my life and develop the tools to be able to communicate with influence and create impact in a way that was authentic to me.

After that, my career started to bloom and I worked in leadership roles with Shazam (the famous music app), Onfido (a financial technology company), and bp Launchpad (a clean-energy investment subsidiary of bp; a Fortune 500 top 40 company).

Once I got to that elusive C-Suite, I found myself wondering one question; “When I was struggling to find my voice as a woman in leadership, what information or knowledge do I wish someone had shared with me?”

This course holds the answers to that question. From increasing confidence as a leader, to overcoming imposter syndrome and everything in between.

I believe that when one of us that claims our agency, authenticity and power, chooses to craft a life and career on our terms and starts to bloom, we give other womxn the permission to do the same.
